History
My name is Bailey Adams. The summer after my sophomore year in high school I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Cambodia. While there, I had the chance to work with some of the most amazing children in an initiative that would change their lives. I spent two weeks working at the orphanage planting rice fields and gardens to create sustainable food sources, teaching english at the local school, building a patio so visitors can watch the children perform their amazing dances, and constructing a playground for the kids. The experience was so impactful that immediately after I returned I started an organization at my high school to benefit the incredible organization that is making such a difference for these children. Eventually, I began to expand that organization to my local community with the help of a local youth organization Youth Global Leadership. I want to spread awareness about problems that these children face and continue to support BSDA in their initiatives to break the cycle of poverty and help develop meaningful futures for the children.
Our Work Now
One of the major goals of the project is to raise money to support BSDAs initiatives in educational advancement and life skills training. In the Spring of 2012 we hosted a fundraiser called Cupcakes for Cambodia. In this hugely successful fundraiser we hosted more than 100 members from the community, held a silent auction, offered cupcake decorating, and sold cupcakes. The fundraiser's success was due to the incredible work of the Youth Global Leaders as well as the Cambodia Orphanage Project club at Fairview High School. After the fundraiser, the project was expanded to Peak-to-Peak high school where a club of over 30 members continued to further the work of the Cambodia Orphanage Project. While we are not currently actively holding any fundraisers we are accepting donations through our donation page and any support is hugely appreciated. Another major goal of the project is to promote awareness about the issues in Cambodia, which we do primarily through our website, Facebook page, and word of mouth. Feel free to contact us for more informational about our initiatives or with any questions.
